Lactobacillus acidophilus, TW01 is a specific strain obtained from fermented coffee grounds in Taiwan’s Gukeng region.
The experiment confirmed that L. acidophilus TW01 possesses a certain level of antioxidant activity, particularly in reducing free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS) concentrations. It also promotes Caco-2 cell migration to cover more wound areas and maintains Th1/Th2 immune balance. Additionally, it can reduce ROS production, cell death, and immunosuppression induced by cigarette smoke extract (CSE).
Unlike most commercially available probiotics that primarily focus on gastrointestinal, allergic, and immune health, L. acidophilus TW01 has an additional potential effect against respiratory damage caused by PM2.5.
It has applied for patents in four countries and has received patent certifications in Taiwan, the United States, and Japan.
