Light yellow sapphire, when subjected to heat treatment, could be converted to white sapphire (resembles a diamond). Heat treatment of 1300 Celsius for 3-5 hours causes this conversion.
This method is based on electrons absorbing energy from the Sunlight to jump to higher electron levels, thus causing a color change.
