The innovation is a passive printed visual indicator of contact with volatile organic liquids (VOCs), developed using thermochromic functional printing. The indicator is activated upon direct contact with VOCs, where the evaporation of the liquid causes local evaporative cooling of the surface below the activation temperature of the thermochromic pigment, resulting in an immediate color change. Unlike existing thermochromic indicators that are used to monitor temperature, the developed solution uses thermochromic response for visual identification of contact with volatile organic liquids. The system does not require electronic components, a power source or additional measuring devices and enables simple, fast and economical detection. The innovation is intended for use in the chemical and graphic industries, laboratories, logistics and other areas where it is necessary to visually confirm the contact of a surface with volatile organic liquids.
