A system for sorting metal and non-metal objects that can be used in the plastic recycling process was designed and built. Plastic recycling is a key aspect of waste management with the aim of reducing environmental pollution and conserving resources. However, the presence of metals in plastic waste poses a significant challenge to the recycling process. Metals can contaminate recycled plastic materials, affecting their quality and usability. Therefore, the separation of metals from plastics is essential for efficient recycling, which reduces the impact of plastic pollution on the environment. By installing the necessary sensors for the detection of metal objects and realizing the control of the drive, an automated unit was realized for the execution of the tasks of sorting metal and non-metal objects. The model made with a built-in system for transporting work items can be useful in education in the field of automation, mechatronics, sensors, etc.
