In architecture, Sun shading refers to design elements or structures that reduce amount of direct sunlight entering a building. This is done to help control heat, reduce glare, and improve energy efficiency by minimizing the need for air conditioning or artificial lightning. When we compare this to traditional Khmer house architecture , the Sun shading could be represented by the thatch roof (Rong sbauv) or Venetian build (Slab pril), which serve to block direct sunlight while allowing for natural ventilation.
