The invention relates to a smart nursing bed equipped with an IoT-enabled system, multiple sensors, and an AI-driven monitoring platform for patient care. The bed integrates automated ergonomic adjustments, including height, tilt, and support repositioning, to enhance comfort and prevent conditions such as falls and pressure ulcers. Embedded sensors continuously collect patient data such as vital signs, movement, and posture, which are processed through predictive analytics to identify risks and trigger timely alerts. A remote care platform enables healthcare providers and caregivers to monitor patients in real time, control bed functions, and access historical health data. The system is designed for use in hospitals, aged-care facilities, and home healthcare, offering improved patient safety, reduced caregiver workload, and enhanced efficiency.

This invention has been registered with WIPO under number PCT/IB2025/059466.

Innovative Aspects of the Invention

  1. IoT-Enabled Integration

Seamless connectivity with healthcare platforms and remote monitoring systems through the Internet of Things (IoT), enabling continuous data transmission and patient supervision.

  1. Adaptive Ergonomic Adjustments

Automatic repositioning of headrests, mattress zones, and air support systems based on real-time patient physiology and body posture, ensuring comfort and preventing pressure sores.

  1. Multi-Sensor Monitoring Suite

Use of thermal, infrared, and pressure sensors to track sleep quality, body temperature, behaviour, and movement patterns, integrated with AI-driven analytics.

  1. Intelligent Patient Interaction System

Embedded audio-visual modules that stimulate awareness and provide cognitive engagement for patients with dementia or consciousness disorders.

  1. AI-Enhanced Predictive Health Analytics

Analysis of patient vital data and excretory biomarkers (e.g., creatinine levels in urine) through artificial intelligence to detect health risks at an early stage.

  1. Smart Toilet Integration

Unique incorporation of sanitary sensors within the bed system, enabling non-invasive monitoring of patient health through urine and fecal analysis.

  1. Wave-Form Mattress Technology

Innovative mattress design with dynamic wave structures to relieve localized pressure and prevent bed sores in long-term bedridden patients.

  1. Durable Composite Materials

Use of advanced reinforced composites instead of fibreglass for enhanced safety, durability, and reduced structural vulnerability.

  1. Adaptive Learning Capabilities

AI system capable of learning individual patient patterns over time and adjusting monitoring/interaction strategies for personalized care.
