This innovation is a compact mechatronic desktop device designed for accelerated, interactive learning and the display of Braille characters in the standard 2×3 matrix. Its primary purpose is tactile literacy training and education for blind and visually impaired individuals by automatically converting characters input from a computer into a raised form beneath the user’s fingertip. Unlike existing commercial solutions—which rely on expensive, fragile piezoelectric actuators or electromagnets (solenoids) prone to overheating—this device utilizes compressed air. By employing six miniature industrial cylinders with a diameter of just 2.5 mm, it achieves high force density (≈ 1.5 N per dot); this prevents the dots from retracting under firm finger pressure and ensures an immediate, clear tactile sensation. Controlled by a Controllino MINI industrial microcontroller and housed in a transparent acrylic casing, the device combines high mechanical robustness and a long service life with significantly lower manufacturing costs.
