The content of the patent represents propose and manufacture the new two types of open-ended pipe pile through the investment of two important factors that are responsible for the capacity of hollow pipe piles.
The first factor has represented by the capacity of the soil plug phenomena that developed from the development of the interior shear stresses for the constrained soil inside the hollow (open-ended) pipe pile.
While the second factor has represented by the invest the peak shear stresses at the exterior face of the pile, that founded at a few distances above the pile tip.
Two types of hollow pipe piles have proposed by making modifications of the bottom region of the hollow pipe pile. The first type is adding exterior wings and ring at distance 2D above the pile tip, while the second type is adding exterior wings and ring at distance 3D above the pile tip. Where the D is the exterior diameter of the hollow pipe pile.
The efficiency of the proposed type studied by modeling and manufacturing the eighth pile types (40 mm diameter), and investigating the behavior of these piles. Complete setup manufactured for installing and loading the piles in a constant rate of penetration. Two lengths to diameter ratios considered in this study (L/D=15 and L/D=20). The model piles tested in loose dry sand. The results show that the proposed first type has a higher-bearing capacity of (263% and 274) than the hollow pipe pile, and (157% and 148) then closed-end pipe pile for (L/D=15 and L/D=20). While the second type gives a higher bearing capacity of (243% and 263%) than the hollow pipe pile, and (163% and140%) than the closed-end pipe pile for (L/D=15 and L/D=20).
