LIVAS is a portable saliva-based screening device developed for the early detection of liver cirrhosis through a non-invasive diagnostic approach. The system integrates a TCS34725 color sensor to detect saliva color alterations associated with bilirubin and bile pigments, alongside an ML8511 ultraviolet (UV) sensor to measure the intensity of transmitted UV light. The multimodal data acquired from both sensors are subsequently processed using a machine learning algorithm to accurately differentiate saliva samples from healthy individuals and patients with liver cirrhosis. By combining optical sensing technology with artificial intelligence, LIVAS provides a rapid, portable, and cost-effective solution for the early screening of liver cirrhosis, with the potential to improve accessibility to diagnostic services, particularly in resource-limited settings.
