Plants based on AEM (anion exchange membrane) electrolysis are still rare, as technology is still in the development phase. In addition to the short lifespan of individual components that make up the plant, a major drawback is the lower efficiency of AEM electrolysis compared to, for example, PEM (proton exchange membrane) electrolysis. This plant uses a modulated direct current/voltage source, applying the pulse width modulation (PWM) technique, which achieves higher efficiency in the hydrogen production process compared to AEM electrolysis with an unmodulated direct current/voltage source.
