The fish-catching device is designed for catching bottom-dwelling fish. It consists of a cylindrical shaft, a mount firmly attached to the lower end of the shaft, and four identical arms; one end of each arm is symmetrically attached to the mount in such a way that the arms can move freely toward or away from the shaft. A square-shaped net is attached to the arms so that the center of the net aligns with the center of the mount, while the edges of the net are secured to the ends of the arms. A small pouch made of porous material, intended for holding bait, is attached to the lower part of the shaft. The device is lowered into the water in a closed position using a control line. When the tip touches the bottom and the control line is slackened further, the arms open up and spread the net to its full size. Fish attracted by the bait in the pouch gather near the center of the deployed net. Pulling the control line draws the arms together around the shaft, thereby gathering the net and capturing any fish within its area. Continued pulling of the control line lifts the device out of the water along with the caught fish.
