The Patent application describes a device for testing preloaded bearing assemblies using Shape Memory Alloys modules. The aim of the device is to determine and confirm the optimum preload required in order to ensure ideal operating parameters for bearings used in multiple applications. To determine the optimum bearing preload, an active preload method is employed, by the means of Shape Memory Alloys modules. The modules come in the form of disc springs, fabricated from an Fe-28 Mn-6 Si-5 Cr alloy.

Applications: improving the rotational precision of machine tool spindles, automotive gearboxes & differentials, electric motor bearing assemblies, reducing thermal equilibrium time in CNC machining centers, actuators and robotics, aerospace industry etc.
