Our new concept of a total semi-constrained elbow implant is based on the shape memory effect of TiNi alloy, that allows the components to “self-assemble” by the action of human body temperature. An important advantage of our design is the assembly made of just two components, in metal on metal version, or three components when bushing polymeric component is used. A reliable and “natural” behavior is envisioned by avoiding the supplementary hinge mechanism.
