Light spinel, when subject to heat at 1500 Celsius for 3-5 hours, the conversion to Dark spinel occurs. The bond structure of this gemstone is not affected due to the use of rice and calcium carbonate . This method is based on electrons absorbing energy from the Sunlight to jump to higher electron levels, thus causing a color change.
