A next-generation compostable packaging has been developed, based on an optimized blend of PBS and PHBV biopolymers, intended for the sustainable packaging of industrially processed products. The innovation combines improved mechanical and functional properties with verified biodegradability and compostability, confirmed according to international ISO standards (ISO 14855 and ISO 16929:2021). The added value of the solution lies in the integration of a compostable barrier coating, which significantly reduces oxygen permeability and extends the shelf life of the packaged product without compromising sustainability. The developed material represents a competitive and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional plastics, with strong potential for wide application in the food and processing industries. Furthermore, the material is designed to achieve an optimal balance between performance during use and efficient degradation after disposal, contributing to the principles of the circular economy. The innovation responds to increasingly stringent regulatory and market demands for sustainable packaging solutions and opens opportunities for further development and adaptation to various products and packaging formats.
