A system of vertical helical wind turbines located in the highway median continuously generates electricity from natural wind and traffic-induced airflow, powering lighting, sensors, and cameras while also reducing headlight glare from oncoming traffic. A roadway of the future that generates energy, powers smart infrastructure, and enhances driver safety.

KEY BENEFITS

  • continuous energy harvesting from natural wind and traffic-induced air turbulence
  • efficient operation regardless of wind direction, thanks to the vertical helical design
  • power supply for roadside lighting, sensors, cameras, and traffic signaling
  • partial reduction of headlight glare from oncoming traffic
