The innovation transforms traditional, manually operated forklifts into autonomous vehicles that can perform transport tasks in warehouses on their own. The target customers are forklift manufacturers and companies engaged in the integration and commercialization of AGVs to end-users. The solution consists of sensor and computer equipment, and software modules needed to convert a manually operated vehicle to AGV. The basic functionality of our solution is the localization of AGV and navigation along a given path, which is necessary for vehicle autonomy. The solution is specific because it uses advanced technologies and is up-to-date with current trends in academic circles in the field of mobile robotics. The applied localization method enables the use of AGV without the installation of additional localization infrastructure, which drastically simplifies the commissioning and maintenance of the system. The path following method uses state-of-the-art methods for optimal control, which increases the accuracy and efficiency of navigation, and a patent application has been filed for it (PCT/EP2019/085210).
