"This innovative project is primarily used in clinical nursing to assist healthcare professionals in improving the success rate of vein injections and avoiding multiple attempts caused by patient variations, small blood vessels, unclear veins, or thick skin tissue. It can also be used as an educational tool, allowing nursing students to observe vein patterns clearly and practice their vein injection techniques.
By leveraging the absorption properties of red blood cells and platelets to infrared light, the system utilizes a Raspberry Pi and NOIR camera to capture vein images. Simultaneously, image processing techniques are employed to enhance image clarity and accuracy for precise vein identification and optimal needle insertion points.
In terms of product design, the system takes into consideration the usage environment of healthcare professionals in clinical settings. It incorporates an embedded system for increased mobility and lightweight design. Additionally, it caters to the habits of both healthcare professionals and patients, providing sufficient space for vein injection and ensuring convenient placement of the back of the hand, regardless of the patient’s position. These design considerations improve the practicality and accuracy of the final product, completing the design of this project.
