The fish (in Greek ikhthys) was in ancient times a lucky charm that encouraged fertility, and since the 2nd century it has become a symbol of Christianity and is worn as a talisman.
The image of a fish was used as a secret sign, because the initial letters of the phrase “Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior” in Greek give the word for fish.
A stylized drawing of a fish was used by the early Christians as a secret sign. The first person would draw one arc, and the second person would complete the drawing.
Unusually for a drawing from the 4th century, the fish mosaic in the Euphrasian Basilica in Poreč is very detailed.
All my working life, I have been thinking about making something so special, and I only started making them two years ago.
All of them are made with a lot of love from leather, multi-layer gluing, sanding and processing of krupon leather.
