The favourable characteristics of pneumatic motors can benefit from the use of pneumatic actuators in specific uses, in comparison to the typically used electric motors.
An experimental setup was created of a pneumatic power steering system, with the aim of testing advanced methods for regulating rotation speed and turn angle of a pneumatic motor under different work regimes. The power system is based on a pneumatic motor regulated proportionately directly by a valve. The measurement of rotation speed was achieved using an incremental encoder. A PC laptop with acquisition card was used to run the system, and the control program and process visualisation were achieved using the program LabView.
